Bans
Alright, so you want to get unbanned. You can appeal a ban here if:
- You feel the ban was unjustified.
- You feel the ban was given to you by mistake.
- Your ban was NOT related to the amount of warnings you have.
- You are sincerely sorry for breaking the rules.
A few tips:
- Please double check you're still banned first. Your ban could have already expired or being altered later on.
- Owning up helps.
- Evidence helps.
- You can appeal expired bans to have them removed from your record.
What happens next?
A member of the Ethics Committee will "claim" your thread, they will then conduct any inquiries they need to, this could include asking you questions about your ban in the thread, speaking to the admin who issued the ban, or checking the servers logs. When they have finished they will post the decision they have come to in your appeal, and lock it.
Possible decisions include:
- The removal of the ban.
- Shortening of the ban.
- Appeal denied (the ban will remain).
Can other people post in my unban request?
Yes, but if and only if they are providing a substantial and relevant opinion. If you feel they are not posting a relevant or substantial opinion, or that they are being offensive towards you, please report the posts.
My appeal was denied, can I try again?
This is only really relevant for extremely long or permanent bans, you may try and appeal again but you should wait quite a while before doing so (at least a couple of months), but it really depends on why you were banned in the first place.
I believe I was wrongly banned by an abusive admin, what should I do?
In this case, you should make an Abuse Report instead, if the admin is found to have abused it is likely your ban will likely be lifted as one of the outcomes. You should not post both the unban request and abuse report.
